Changing to use Australian Post Shipping Calculator for Shopify with Shopify's real time carrier shipping module

Last Updated: Jul 23, 2014 09:10AM PDT
Shopify's real time carrier shipping feature is a feature that allows you to integrate with Fedex, UPS, Canada Post and get real time shipping quotes. An addd benefit of this feature is that it also allows you to integrate with a custom shipping carrier developed by 3rd party developers.

The Australian Post Shipping Calculator app can act as a custom shipping carrier. Here are the instructions on how to set it up.

Select the shipping carrier "Australia Post (with Shopify Real-time carrier shipping)" when you are on the homepage of the application under "

If you are upgrading from an existing store that have the app installed, change the carrier to  "Australia Post (with Shopify Real-time carrier shipping)" from  "Australia Post". You would also need to change your theme file. Find the theme file checkout.css and take out the following lines:
#overview #thumbs h3[title^="Shipping"] + span {
display: none;

#payment {
display: none;

Then go to edit theme file cart.liquid and find this line {% include 'webify-request-shipping-form' %}  remove the line and save the theme file.

Also go to Preference and then Shipping. If you see a shipping rules that set the shipping rate to zero (which you most likely configured when you first installed the app), remove that rule and your setting should look like something like this. You can add/subtract from the shipping rates returned by Australia Post by adding a fixed amount or percentage after clicking on the Edit link.

Please note that after you made this change, the shipping rates will be displayed at the last page of checkout (where credit card number is captured).
